Your camera photos, on the map — from the iPhone photos you already took.

Forgot to connect your camera to your phone, so your camera photos have no location? GeoMatch is an add-on (plug-in) for Adobe Lightroom Classic on the Mac. It looks at the iPhone photos in Apple's Photos app on the same Mac, finds the ones you took around the same time as each camera photo, and copies their location into Lightroom Classic.

How it works

1. Select camera photos in Lightroom ClassicA folder, a trip, or a whole shoot — then choose GeoMatch from the Library menu.
2. GeoMatch finds your iPhone photosIn Apple's Photos app, taken within 30 minutes (you can change this) of each camera photo.
3. Check them side by sideEach camera photo next to the iPhone photo it matched, with the place and both times.
4. Click Geotag PhotosThe locations are saved in Lightroom Classic. Undo works as usual.

What it adds

• GPS location and altitude — so your photos appear on Lightroom Classic's Map.
• Place names — street or landmark, city, state or province, country and country code, taken from the address the Photos app already knows for the iPhone photo.
• The local date and time with its time zone — for example 7 August 2026, 09:40 in Madrid (UTC+2).

Camera clock on the wrong time zone?

Very common when travelling: the camera stays on home time, so a morning photo in Madrid shows up in Lightroom Classic as the night before. GeoMatch notices this by itself, still matches the right iPhone photos, and then guides you through correcting the times with Lightroom Classic's own Edit Capture Time command. Only the time-zone difference is corrected; your camera's minutes and seconds are kept.

Requirements

• A Mac with Adobe Lightroom Classic (the desktop app, not Lightroom on a phone or the newer app called just “Lightroom”).
• An iPhone whose photos appear in the Photos app on that Mac — through iCloud Photos, or by importing them — with location turned on for the iPhone's Camera (Settings › Privacy & Security › Location Services › Camera).
• A one-time permission in your Mac's System Settings so Lightroom Classic can read the Photos library (Full Disk Access). GeoMatch shows you how the first time — see the steps.

Mac only — GeoMatch doesn't run on Windows. It only reads your Photos library, never changes it, and nothing leaves your Mac — privacy.
